Over react or what?

It is now the New Year so here's hoping that it is better than last year.
Yesterday has its moment. Tom and I went to the local Tesco to get a few bits and pieces, took Redd with us. So far so good. Got a trolley and entered the store, okay. Lots of people there aisles were busy, tom was pushing the trolley and a women stopped dead in front of him, he has to stop abruptly and he waited just for a moment or two before asking her to move and she snapped back she couldn't move. I was standing to the side and I could see quite clearly there was nothing in front of her, nothing was impeding her. Thing is Tom being taller could see that as well, so I headed him off at the pass so to speak and turned his attention to the irn-bru (Scotland's other drink) on special before he could retort to her. We picked up a couple of bottle of irn-bru. and he grumbled about inconsiderate people as we looked at couple of other things and we turned down another aisle and who should come out from another aisle yet that women she had blocked him and I could not believe what she did next. She rushed in front of Tom and stopped blocking him again and my god she went "Teeheehee" as she did it. She also went bright red in the face.
Tom give him his due stormed passed her but at least said nothing to her, I hurried to catch up with him and his was swearing under his breath.
We finished our shopping and fleetingly it crossed my mind 'god I hope we don't get in a queue with her', he did not grant my thought.
The checkouts were busy but Tom spotted one where there was only a women and a couple of kids, he just saw no queue and started to unload. The women turned and looked, turned bright red and started to speak to the checkout operator which caused Tom to then look at the red faced women, of god it was that women, what are the odds of that! The two girls with had not been with her before so Tom not registered that is was her. He could not stop himself from saying 'go on cry' that's all he said and he continued to put our goods on the checkout. The women then said 'I am calling my husband' and told her daughter to do so.
The checkout operator looked really uncomfortable, poor girl. Red faced women rushed off with girls in tow. I asked Tom if he thought they would be waiting for us to come out. Tom said he didn't give a shit if they did.
We got outside and I untied Redd and held his lead. Tom put his backpack on and was picking the other tow bags out of the trolley and a young man rushed up and was really really angry about Tom picking on his Aunt and he was followed by another man, quite as angry about Tom harassing his wife. He threatend to beat Tom up well both did. If it had been any other place I think the two men would have attacked Tom. Lots of people looked at us. The men were yelling and would not listen to us, accusing Tom of what I do not know?
A young women came up from behind with a trolley, I saw her and turned to her as she started to have a go at Tom as well. I stopped her in her tracks, telling her she never saw anything as she was not there and so did not know what the argument was about and to but out, mind her own business. She looked at me and shut up quickly going into the store. Who the hell did she think she was butting in?
Red faced women came up and watched with a smile on her face. These men would not listen and continued to threaten Tom with physical violence, I wondered when it would stopped. Tom never lost his temper kept in control, did not threaten them. They would have to make the first move. Our dog Redd kept behind me, poor love, hate to think how he would have reacted is the men attacked Tom.
The husband called Tom four eyes, cos he wears glasses and Tom laughed, he has warn glasses all his life and has heard that before.
I said to the men they obviously have not hear the truth, talk about an over reaction. Red faced women seemed to be enjoying herself and I asked 'what did you tell them?' Her reply was 'Go back to England' To which I replied 'I'm Australian.' 'That's worse' she called back leaving. I laughed. She yelled something nasty and I put up a finger at her. She ran off.
Meanwhile the two men could not get a rise out of Tom and I think they then realized that a crowed was not watching and could hear them threatening Tom as Tom continued to say you have not been told the truth. The men backed away with threats to get Tom. Tom tried to watch where they went, to get their car number but was unable to.
Mind you we kept an eye out, did not want to be followed by them.
Such a horrible incident created from such petty incidents. I was surprised security had not turned up. It would have been all on CCTV as there were camera there, if it would ever have been needed..
Murphy's law says we will see them again, I hope not.
What did red faced women say to those men that they would become so angry and want to beat up Tom? Whatever, she enjoyed the scene she had instigated. Great example to those two girls how to get your own back on someone who upset you. I bet she never mentioned that she laughed as she deliberately got in front and stopped. I thought the men seemed to think she had been threatened in some way.
Glad she is not my neighbour.
